The only known specimen, nicknamed Jagger, possessed enlarged, backwards-sweeping horns above his eyes, heavily cornified versions of equivalent structures in his ancestors.įor whatever reason, Jagger possessed a large hump on his back. Giganotosaurus's head is large and relatively robust, though the jaws are still capable of opening extremely widely, while simultaneously delivering an extremely powerful bite to whatever is unlucky enough to be targeted. In many other regards, though, the two genera differ-particularly the individual cloned by BioSyn. ![]() A close cousin of Allosaurus, they share traits such as small crests in front of the eyes, the enlarged thumb claw, and jaws capable of opening extremely widely. Giganotosaurus is one of the biggest theropods to have ever existed.
